I think it is probably a silveroid case, and the crystal is very clean. This is a very nice rare pocket watch that anyone will be proud to own. A great gift idea… In 1866, right around the time that John C. Adams from Waltham Watch Company joined a partnership that spawned the Elgin National Watch Company, he went to Rockford, Illinois with the idea of opening a factory there. The residents of the town were not enthusiastic about the idea and the entrepreneur took his idea to Elgin, Illinois. In its 39 years of operation, the company manufactured just under 1 million watches half of which were produced between 1902 and 1915. For sale an extremely rare and fancy barber cabinet. It is extra large in size, the dimensions are listed above but are 47.5 tall including brass gallery, 25.5 inches wide at the top, and 15.25 deep at the top. It is made for the most part from quartersawn oak, some ripped as to not show the quartersawn flake. The top has a neat little brass gallery. The door has a beautiful round glass and when opened will accommodate bottles up to 21 inches tall from the shelf to the top. The first shelf is about 13 inches above the base and it will accommodate items up to 9 inches tall. It has very nice carvings and cut outs everywhere which I tried to picture. The top is constructed somewhat like a roof with the old elevated tile shingles, of course these are fine quartersawn oak. At any rate it has a lot of very nice stuff going on with it. I have probably 3 or 4 smaller oak cabinets with a towel holder and perhaps 7 or 8 chromium over wood barber cabinets most of which go with the two Italian marble koken barber shop back bars I have, some are doubles I think. I need to dispose of all of this stuff before I cross the bar and put out to sea but I realize the impossibility of this ever coming to pass. I have over 500 furniture pieces and 10,000 smalls of fine porcelain, bronze, lamps etc. This cabinet I have listed is the nicest barber cabinet I have ever owned or seen.
