ACCORDING THE FAMILY THIS AMAZING STATUE OF JESUS HAS BEEN IN THE FAMILY FOREVER AND HANDED DOWN THROUGHOUT MANY GENERATIONS. HE STATED AS FAR AS HE KNEW IT HAD ORIGINATED FROM AN OLD CHURCH IN CHIMAYO, NEW MEXICO YEARS AGO WHILE IT WAS BEING RENOVATED. I ATTEMPTED TO DO AS MUCH RESEARCH AS I COULD BUT WITHOUT PAPERS ETC.. I CAN ONLY GO BY WHAT I WAS TOLD. THIS BEAUTIFULLY CARVED STATUE IS AMAZING AND STANDS APPROX: 3 FEET TALL, THE WIDTH IS APPROX: 2 FEET WIDE HAND TO HAND. HIS CHEST MEASURES 8 ACROSS. AS YOU CAN TELL THIS IS AN IMPRESSIVE AND TREASURED PIECE OF ART. CHIMAYO NEW MEXICO, PER MY RESEARCH, HAS BEEN HOME TO MANY “SANTOS” CARVERS DATING BACK TO THE LATE 1800’S WHICH IS WHAT I WAS GIVEN AS THE APPROX: AGE OF THIS PIECE.
