Peasant Village (Parry Vieille) Very Rare Large 13.25 French Opera Platter
This is a very rare size in the Peasant Valley French opera plate series. On-line, the largest I could find was 10″, and this plate measures 13.25″ in diameter. This platter has the opera “Mignon” as its center. Unlike other plates in the series, this larger version references other operats in the perimeter. Starting above & going clockwise, the Terre de Fer opera references are. La Muette de Portici (the Mute Girl of Portici). Lucie de Lammermoor. Les Noces de Jeannette (Jeannette’s Wedding). Le Barbier de Seville (Barber of Seville). Guillaume Tell (William Tell). The outermost rim is painted with gold trim. The plate is then circled in a forest green band. Designed to be the centerpiece of your collection. I will be offering two dinner plates in this series “Faust” and “Les Dragons des Villars Maillart”. If of interest, please see my other items. Frequently misattributed to Parry Vieille, the PV hallmark was used by Mittledorfer, Strauss, Inc. Of New York City on imported pieces. I have also seen these French opera plates misattributed to Pillyvuyt. Note some photos appear redundant because I take photos from all possible angles. On symmetrical items, these photos may appear redundant when there are no distinguishing differences or condition issues between side views. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.

The Cherub is 38 cm (15″) in length, total height of chandelier is 52cm (20 1/2″) including a ceiling plate and rose shades. Cherub is in great antique condition without damages, with wear and scratches to surface. This chandelier has old European wiring and sockets. One rose shade has imperfection : little break to one petal, barely noticeable (see last picture). A very interesting and most important VERY LARGE OIGNON. BY PIERRE GAUDRON A LISTED MAKER. PLEASE DO TAKE TIME TO READ THE FULL LISTING AND DO ENLARGE THE PHOTOGRAPHS TO GET A BETTER LOOK. The size of the leather bound case is 57 m. A lot of the pins are in place. DIAL is in very good condition with lovely enamel cartouches. The glass is very high mineral and clean and clear. The fire gilt movement look just like the day it left the work shop. The watch runs Time keeping Aprox + or – 1-2 minuets per hour, mask engraved and scroll pierced engraved balance cock. Amazing time keeping for a watch that is over 300 years old. Engraved on the back plate with the makers name. PIERRE GAUDRON WAS A MOST IMPORTANT FRENCH MAKER PLEASE DO TAKE TIME TO READ THE LISTING ON HIM THAT IS ON THE SITE. The watch will come with a key. Just great to have such an amazing and interesting watch that is as good as this one, and it just has every thing one could want on a fine verge watch, very hard to find a watch in this condition with all that it has going for it.
