Antique very large quartersawn oak hall tree, one of a kind very rare model
For sale a very large and rare model antique quartersawn oak hall tree. The piece is very heavy and sits on 6 bun feet in the front. It is very stable and sturdy in every way. No tendency to tilt, no wiggles wobbles, or loose pieces. Appears to be original finish. It has great form and beauty, huge beveled glass mirror, two fluted columns with bases and capitals on either side, nice carvings on the top sides, back, and bottom. It has three brass rods I suppose to throw scarfs over perhaps. The hooks are worth a fortune, of course original to the piece but are in three sections which are fastened together with a wing nut. When assembled they are most sturdy with no movement. Anyway it is a one of kind piece. I have never seen another like it although there are probably some more out there but this is the only one like it I have seen in about 60 years of messing with antiques. I have been a collector most of my adult live and grew up using antiques as a kid. It is very heavy and made of the finest quartersawn oak of it’s day. I expect it was made circa 1890. It is 85 inches tall, 50 inches wide, and 16 inches deep at the deepest point where the boot box curves outward. I think I have listed three large hall trees now. I have some smaller ones and may list a few of them. I need to make room to walk in my house so when I kick the bucket they can get me out of here.
