Very Rare Large 11.5, 12-Baby Storyteller James Pueblo by Lupe Loretto Lucero. Unique piece of art. Leonora Lupe Lucero, “Sun Flower”, was born in 1943 to Carrie R. Lupe is of Jemez and Laguna heritage and married into the San Felipe Pueblo. Lupe learned how to make pottery in the traditional Jemez Pueblo manner from her mother when she was young. She began making bowls, jars and effigy’s as she learned her culture’s long-standing pottery traditions. By the late 1970’s, Lupe was actively producing storytellers and figurines; a full participant in the popular Pueblo movement to make figurines and storytellers at that time. She is best known for her Koshare clown storytellers with corn husk tassels and figurines, male storytellers and her own unusual creation of storytellers reading books to children, male or female.
