1850s daguerreotype of a man and his wife, identified as Daniel Vanderwater (or his great Grandparents, hard to read), housed in a beautiful papier mache and mother of pearl inlaid case, measuring 7.5″ x 6.25″ closed! A large and impressive case and mat, both of which are extremely rare in this size. The mat itself is 6.5″ x 5 3/8″. The daguerreotype is probably around half-plate size, possibly a bit larger. The original seals are still intact and the plate has a tarnish ring and some typical specks and spots on the underside of the glass, but the image itself appears undamaged. The case is in very good antique condition.. Better than most of this size far. The leather on the inside is pulling away from the spine, but can probably be glued back in place and it has light general wear, however the case is still in one piece, cover is attached with no repairs. One clasp is missing. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Photographic Images\Photographs”. The seller is “jack_mord” and is located in this country: US.
