VERY RARE JOMAZ MOGUL JEWELS OF INDIA LARGE LION HEAD BROOCH. Very Rare JOMAZ Mogul Jewels of India Large Lion HeadBrooch/PendantRare and wonderful Jomaz lion’s head brooch/pendant designed in 18k gold plated filigree base metal. The brooch is set with ruby red and sapphire blue oval cabochons. The stone at the bottom is a faux lapis with flecks of silver in it. A pearl is set in the lion’s mouth and his face and mane have a light blue wash. The brooch measures 4″ tall, 2 1/2″ wide, with a profile of 1/2 as the lion sits a top the filigree. The Jomaz hallmark is on the reverse. This unique and rare brooch is in excellent condition with no flaws. Mazer Brothers was founded by Joseph Mazer and his brother Louis in 1926 in New York. One of Mazer Bros. Best known designers was the talented Marcel Boucher who left to open his own company in the mid 1930s. In 1946 Joseph Mazer left Mazer Bros. To form Joseph J. Better known as JOMAZ, while Louis Mazer stayed with Mazer Bros. Until 1951, the year of his last jewelry collection. Was known for its innovative stance, exploring new design and production methods and continually experimenting with different techniques for creating metal alloys or for use in the refinishing processes.
