Very Rare Large Mug Bold Cable Mocha Ware Mochaware Pearlware Staffordshire Mint
Here we have a stunning large cable decorated mug. Decorated with a large bold cabling on a wide blue band that covers the side of the mug, this dates to circa 1825. The cup is decorated with 4 finely formed looped cable decorations. The mug is further decorated with an applied foliate terminal handle. There is a small glaze rub on the side of the handle and a tine rub on the top of the rim. The mug measures 3 7/8″ in height and 4 ½”width across the rim. The underside of the mug is impressed LL&T / MONT. This was the mark for the Montereau Potteries established in 1748 in Montereau, France and lead by a number of English potters. This is in original mint condition and survives with no damage or repairs, having been cherished and cared for, for nearly 200 years. Here we have an extremely rare. Stunning tankard dating to the early 1800s. The tankard is decorated with 7! Large looping cable or earthworm decorations centered on a pale yellow band. The cable is a continuous four color slip, black, brown, blue and white. Above and below the cable are. Black bands with white solid color raised dots around orange solid color dots. This imposing tankard is supported by a stepped and reeded foot. Appropriately the tankard has a fancy foliated applied handle. There is glaze wear on the handle. This large tankard measures 6 in height and is in near mint condition with only the handle glaze wear and no other no post production damage. Any serious collector of mocha would be pleased to add this magnificent tankard to their collection. Here we have a very rare and attractive pitcher with ornate and finely detailed blue and brown mocha tree decorations. Very few pitchers were decorated with more than one color for the mocha decorations. The pitcher is further decorated with 13 black and white bands around the side. The shape with the flat sides and multiple black and white bands on larger pitchers is characteristic of the T. Measuring 7 ½ in height to the rim the pitcher is in near mint condition with only a chip on the inside of the foot rim that doesnt show when upright. There is no other damage and no repairs. This master salt is extremely rare and is the only example Ive ever found like this. Master salts were in use during the early 1800s. At that time, salt was a valuable commodity and the form that master salts took reflected that. They are always wide and squat with a wide foot so they wouldnt tip over and spill. This salt has a bowl with four rounded lobes that extend out from the scalloped foot. Each lobe is separated at the rim by a shell with gold gilt around the rim and body. The green, brown, black and white agate decoration goes through the clay rather than being surface applied. The underside of the foot is recessed and is impressed MINTON. Measuring 5 in width diagonally by 2 ½ in height, the master salt is in remarkably mint original condition with no damage or repairs.
