1945 Conn 6M VIII Alto Saxophone. These Conn 6M’s are legendary saxophones and the VIII marking signifies the most desirable era of 6M production. This is a very unique 6M VIII alto because it was made in the later era of 6M production but still received the VIII stamping. The “VIII” font size and style are also much larger than 90% of the VIII altos you will see, making this quite a unique sax. Of course this sax has the rolled tone holes, double-socket neck, and microtuner. I do believe the sax was relacquered decades ago, however the color of the lacquer is a beautiful dark honey color and the engraving is in great shape as well. The body of the sax is in very good shape overall. I do see some various scratches and areas of lacquer wear, however this is all to be expected for a vintage sax that is over 75 years old! For its age, this sax is in really nice condition. Pads are an older set which could either be adjusted well or replaced by the future owner. This sax has spent the last 25+ years in storage, thus I would recommend that the new owner gets the saxophone fully adjusted prior to active playing.
