Here we have an extremely rare. Stunning tankard dating to the early 1800s. The tankard is decorated with 7! Large looping cable or earthworm decorations centered on a pale yellow band. The cable is a continuous four color slip, black, brown, blue and white. Above and below the cable are. Black bands with white solid color raised dots around orange solid color dots. This imposing tankard is supported by a stepped and reeded foot. Appropriately the tankard has a fancy foliated applied handle. There is glaze wear on the handle. This large tankard measures 6 in height and is in near mint condition with only the handle glaze wear and no other no post production damage. Any serious collector of mocha would be pleased to add this magnificent tankard to their collection. Here are a PAIR of exceptionally rare , matching early, (11″ tall male and 10″ female), “Seminole Indian” doll s, circa 1930s, from the Everglades area in south Florida. The male member of the tribe wears his original, very c o l o r f u l , “big shirt” with matching cotton scarf with orange bead tie around his neck and black cloth headdress representing his hair. His body is stuffed with palmetto husk and his wooden legs are covered with the same material although he has lost one foot (which should not be difficult to add). His facial features include an applied nose and eyes which are stitched with thread. His wonderfully bright and clean, traditional patchwork shirt is actually horizontally stitched with many individual pieces joined together in bands to form the intricate patterns (as can be seen on the underside in our attached photos). Included with him is his female mate also w earing her traditional, very c o l o r f u l cotton, two-piece costume and original white bead necklace with her hair wrapped in a black cloth snood. Her cylindrical body is made of cypress bark and palmetto fiber husk and her facial features are stitched with thread including an applied nose & one eyebrow. As described on page 9, “Indian Dolls”-Schiffer her black fabric head covering is not a hat but actually represents the woven hairstyles worn by the tribal women. These wonderful dolls both have their earlier, softer printed clothing and are probably from the Brighton Reservation (Miccosukee-Seminole) and are in very good condition, considering their age, with wonderfully preserved features as shown. They have slight fading, no stains, no tears, little wear at edge of her skirt and no repairs or odors as they are from a smoke free home. Other similar Seminole Indian dolls are shown in last 3 photos are separately listed and not included. All original; Stunning period lamp.. “Please scroll down for details”. Large stool design base incorporating the large circular gallery with the original securing bolts. Built within the gallery is a very unusual central stanchion type three branch pillar structure, each branch with its original bronze E22 bayonet fit bulb holder. Very large heavy Opaline cased glass globe shade with Roman design sky light ventilation feature. Later fitted with a 1940s black Bakelite flat inline replacement ON /OFF switch. Later fitted with a 1940s MK Bakelite three round pin replacement plug with a cord grip. Recently professionally rewired with silk braided two core twist cable, tested, and in perfect working order. GREAT ANTIQUE VERY LARGE & EARLY GERMAN PAPIER MACHE DOLL RARE! Exposed Ears
This doll is believed to be an early German Papier Mache shoulder head doll from the mid or early 1800s. The doll is unmarked. She is 31 tall! The doll has a unique expression , black hair, exposed ears, and blue painted eyes. She has kid leather arms that appear to go all the way up to the shoulders. I have not completely undressed her, but the leather is intact at least passed her elbows. She has a cloth body which appears to be original and in good condition but may have been replaced over the years. The clothes are old but again, I cannot determine if they are original. The clothes are in fairly good condition with some tearing of the lace. Her face has multiple rubs and one larger chip on the forehead. There is some loss of coloring on her cheeks but they eyes are still very vibrant. All of these imperfections should be evident in the pictures. All of her fingers are in tact.
