Here we have a very rare milk pan. Milk pans always have the same distinctive form consisting of a prominent rolled rim, sloped sides and a flat bottom. Measuring 12 ¼ in diameter by 3 ½ in height the milk pan is in original mint condition with only glaze wear on the bottom. The color of this milk pan is a bright yellow. The potter left marks with his fingers on the sides and bottom when he was working the wet clay. This is a very rare yellow ware form you would be pleased to add to your collection. Here we have an extremely rare 1800s banded bowl. The side of the bowl is decorated with 11 bands, 2 brown and 9 white. There was a thick consistency to the glaze used in applying the bands, you can feel the raised bands on the surface of the bowl. The bowl is finely molded with a prominent rounded rim and base. These features and the banding are unique to bowls produced by J. In their day, Jeffords was the Tiffany of yellow ware pottery production, no other American potter approached the quality of what Jeffords was able to produce. Measuring 12 ½ in diameter by 6 in height, the bowl is in original mint condition with only a smudge in two of the bands by the potter during glazing. Jeffords is known for producing large high quality bowls, you will probably never see another bowl like this. Any advanced collector would be pleased to add this bowl to their yellow ware collection. This is a very rare and attractive 9 white band bowl. There are 6 narrow white perfectly formed bands below the rim and 3 more in the space above the foot. The bowl is nicely molded and has an attractive rolled rim and raised round foot. Dating to the 1800s, this is a large bowl measuring 13 in width by 6 ¼ in height. Considering its age, the bowl is in as near mint condition youll hope to find, with only a fine line in the glaze above the foot that isnt noticeable and doesnt detract. This is one of the nicest white banded bowls that anyone would be pleased to add to their yellow ware collection. This is a very rare and magnificent early 1900s bowl. These bowls seldom come on the market and are among the rarest of the bowl patterns. The shoulder has a band of molded laurel leaves and berries. The side has molded dimples and moons with stylized flowers around the base. The green glaze highlights this attractive pattern. Measuring 9 ¾ in diameter by 5 ½ in height the bowl is in original mint condition with no damage or repairs. The base is marked 102/-, this is a production number used by Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company who started production in Roseville, Ohio in 1910. This ornate bowl was difficult to produce and was only made for a short period of time in a small quantity. This is a very rare and sought after bowl any collector would be pleased to own. Here we have a very rare colander shaped like a milk pan. Milk pans always have the same distinctive form consisting of a prominent rolled rim, sloped sides and a flat bottom. This colander has 4 concentric rings of drainage holes in the bottom and 3 rings of holes around the side. This is a large milk pan colander measuring 11 ¾ in diameter by 4 in height. A similar colander is shown in Lisa McAllisters Collectors Guide to Yellow Ware Book I on page 55. In all my years of collecting, this is the only colander Ive ever seen in this form. Very few of these colanders were made and fewer survive in any condition to this day. The colander has a stable hairline at the rim and glaze loss from use with no other damage and no repairs. Here we have a very rare seated cat. Pottery cats are not found as often as dogs which are more plentiful. This would have been crafted by a master potter who did an excellent job of modeling the cat including the detail in the eyes and whiskers. The cat sits upright on a raised base that is hollow on the underside. Measuring 8 ½ to the top of its ears, the cat is a survivor with darkened chips around the edge of the base, a small chip on one of the ears and a glaze rub on the cats nose. There is no other damage or any repairs to the cat. This was probably played with by many children over the cats long life time. This is a very rare form not appearing in any of the books on collecting yellow ware. This master salt is extremely rare and is the only example Ive ever found like this. Master salts were in use during the early 1800s. At that time, salt was a valuable commodity and the form that master salts took reflected that. They are always wide and squat with a wide foot so they wouldnt tip over and spill. This salt has a bowl with four rounded lobes that extend out from the scalloped foot. Each lobe is separated at the rim by a shell with gold gilt around the rim and body. The green, brown, black and white agate decoration goes through the clay rather than being surface applied. The underside of the foot is recessed and is impressed MINTON. Measuring 5 in width diagonally by 2 ½ in height, the master salt is in remarkably mint original condition with no damage or repairs. Here we have an extremely rare seated Spaniel, which is exceptional and is highly desired by dog collectors. The Spaniel is nicely molded with the multi glaze accenting the fine details in the dog. The dog was molded in two pieces and joined before firing. There is a small hole in the back of the dogs body to help vent the heat during firing. Measuring 7 in height by 5 ½ in width, the dog is in original mint condition with no damage or repairs. This dog has vibrant colors and is absolutely stunning. Interestingly, the face on this Spaniel is the same as on the large Scottish Spaniel bank I have listed. Any serious collector would be proud to own this Spaniel.
